Nantou County Guanghua Elementary School Introduction The guiding principle of Guanghua Primary School is encapsulated in the phrase "The greatest benevolence is like water". Situated in Zhongxing New Village, Nantou City, Nantou County, the school was established in 1957 and was formerly known as Zhongxing No. 1 Primary School. Zhongxing New Village, the location of the school, was the first city planned by the Taiwan Provincial Government. The area is teeming with diverse natural resources, including rich flora and fauna, as well as a wealth of human resources.
We are dedicated to shaping a curriculum that nurtures students by incorporating an exploration of nature and humanities within the local Zhongxing New Village, integrating digital technology into the learning process, fostering diversity, respect, and tolerance, and promoting a global perspective. In addition, we offer programs tailored for gifted and special needs students. Our school also provides a wide range of extracurricular activities including table tennis, football, dance, taekwondo, Go, insect study, robotics, children's orchestra, and track and field, allowing students to explore diverse interests, showcase their multifaceted talents, and develop independent thinking.
Our educators are dedicated to their students and value the art of teaching. They continuously hone their teaching abilities by participating in workshops, refining their techniques in the classroom, and remaining receptive to new learning. Additionally, our teachers foster collaborative communities to exchange knowledge and teaching strategies. They welcome fellow educators into their classrooms to facilitate shared learning through observation, dialogue, and collaborative adjustments.
Our curriculum focuses on Humanistic Care, Scientific and Technological Literacy, Innovation, and Sustainability, as well as an International Perspective. We design courses that highlight the local community, offering school-based classes on geography, history, and humanities in the surrounding areas. This approach allows students to gain a deeper appreciation of local nature and culture while broadening their international perspectives.
In our school, students in grades three to six are provided with iPads to enhance their learning experience. They utilize iPads and VR technology for problem-based learning (PBL) sessions, which ensures that learning opportunities are available everywhere. Through iPads, students engage in online communication with peers from different countries, create videos and audio recordings to share Taiwanese stories and gain insights into diverse cultures. Our aim is for students to utilize technology to broaden their horizons, foster creativity, and develop an international outlook and global perspective.
The school environment facilitates interaction between students and the facilities. Our classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards, tablets, and notebooks, enabling teachers to seamlessly integrate students' technological experiences into their teaching materials, encouraging exploration and learning.
The educational facility is equipped with a range of amenities, including a basketball court and large athletics playground, aquatic pool, auditorium, library, two computer labs, a VR classroom, and a PBL classroom. These resources provide students with a conducive and secure environment for learning.
Guanghua Primary School, established in 1957, has a rich history and has produced many accomplished alumni. The school's parent association plays a crucial role in supporting its operations. Through their generous contributions, including event donations and scholarships, the Parent Association enables us to provide a high-quality education for our students. Their support has allowed our students to excel in their academic and extracurricular endeavors.
We actively engage volunteers and professional groups to enrich the educational experience of our students, providing them with valuable opportunities to learn through practical experiences.
